Interview are probably 60-70% preparation and 40-30% execution. There for preparing for an interview is crucial to ensure a successful outcome. Moreso than wanting the job, you should always want to do your best to receive an offer. Take it from me there is nothing worse than walking away from and interview knowing that you are qualified and can crush the opportunity. Trust me, I know because it has happened to me.
Preparing for an interview is much more than just about dressing up well and showing up on time, but is also about doing your homework and showing that you are genuinely interested in the company and the role you’re applying for. In this blog, we’ll cover the key things you should do before you show up for your interview.
Firstly, try to get an itinerary of who you will be meeting with. Names and titles are important to get. This will help you to prepare for the interview and ensure that you know who you’re talking to. , Thoroughly research the interviewers through internet searches and by searching LinkedIn profiles. Perhaps the interviews are part of the leadership listed on the company website. Take notes and become familiar with the faces. It is pretty impressive to introduce yourself to the players by name in the interview process and even possibly be able to refer to a hobby or their family details if there are notes on the website profile. This alone can be huge in distinguishing yourself from other candidates. Secondly, do thorough research on the company. Not only should you look up the company website and do a deep dive, but you should also take notes on culture, mission, and values. Look up the company on sites like Glassdoor. We recommend that you take what you see with a grain of salt and don’t let negative reviews prevent you from taking the opportunity to go through the interview process and decide for yourself. If you see recurring themes, this may be worth asking about during the interview process. Research the latest news that may be highlighted. Take notes on the history of the company. Write a list of questions to take to the interview with you. It may not be the most appropriate time to dig into the details of the benefits but questions relating to the culture, expectations, and what accomplishments a successful candidate will be measured by are all very relative.
